Description

In this lesson students learn about daily routine and the main focus is morning routine.

Materials

Abc whiteboard

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification of routines in the context of morning activities
  • To provide gist reading practice using a text about Routins in the context of morning routine

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide gist listening practice using a text about routine in the context of morning routine

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

after asking about how are they doing, I ask about their daily routine.

Exposure (8-15 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

While talking, I write the new vocabularies that I use in my speaking on the board

Talking about the picture (5-10 minutes) • To get to the text

I ask students to look at the picture and talk about it in pairs.

Clarification (8-15 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

I teach the new words and I ask them to repeat.

Reading the text (2-10 minutes) • To gist reading

I give time to students to read the text and then I play the audio

Controlled Practice (4-8 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Students do the first exercise and we check

Semi-Controlled Practice (4-7 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

Students do the second exercise in pairs and then we check

Semi-Controlled Practice 2 (5-10 minutes) • To check new verbs

Students find the verbs that shows an action in pairs and then we check each line with whole class.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

As a game, each student has a small HO and they must say sentences about their own and their classmate card.
