Description

In this lesson, students learn about hobbies and different activities. The lesson starts with talking about hobbies. Then, after learning new vocabularies and listening to the audio, they read a passage and answer some questions about the text.

Main Aims

  • To provide gist reading practice using a text about different activities in the context of hobby
  • To provide clarification of Activity words in the context of hobby

  • To provide gist listening practice using a text about activities in the context of hobby

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-8 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

After asking how are they doing, I start asking about hobbies and what do they do in their free times.

Exposure (8-20 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

I pre-teach new vocabularies when I'm asking about their hobbies

Listening (5-20 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

Students open their books and I play listening. Then, I read and they repeat after me and finally they read new words one by one

Main passage (8-20 minutes) • To read and guess the passage

I ask about the pictures and they answer the questions. I play the listening and I ask some questions about the text

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Students do the questions and then they check in groups. Then, we check with the class.

Free Practice (8-12 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

As a game, Each student write one sentence about themselves in small HO. I collect the papers and I ask them one by one to come and pick one paper and read it for the whole class and they must guess the paper is about who
