Creativity and Collaboration: Students will enhance their teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving skills by designing a unique celebration plan. Listening and Comprehension: Students will practice listening by engaging with their peers' role-plays and responding to follow-up questions.
Procedure (8-45 minutes)
1. Activity: -Write on the board: Imagine you are going to plan a party. What are you going to do? -Ask 2-3 students to share quick responses. For example: *"I am going to buy a cake." *"We are going to invite our friends." -Explain that today’s lesson will focus on creating a full celebration plan in groups.
Group Work Setup (5 minutes) 1. Form Groups: -Divide the class into 8 groups (7 groups of 3 and 1 group of 2). Each group will find a name for themselves. -Assign each group one unique celebration topic (or put the topic in a box and they can pick up one) (e.g., A Welcome Party for an Alien Visitor, A Victory Party After a Dragon Hunt). 2. Instructions: -Each group will work together to plan their celebration and create a short role-play. -Plans must include: *Decorations *Food and drinks *Entertainment or activities *A special guest or highlight -Encourage the use of at least 5 sentences with "be going to."
Group Preparation (15 minutes) 1. Planning: -Students discuss and write down their celebration plans. -Example dialogue snippets: "We are going to hang lights all around the room." "I am going to bake a giant alien-shaped cake." "Who is going to play music at the party?" 2. Monitor: -Circulate to provide support, ensure all members are contributing, and correct any grammar issues in real-time. 3. Role-Play Presentations (15 minutes) 1. Performances: -Each group presents their role-play to the class (2 minutes per group). -Encourage students to act creatively (e.g., tone, gestures, props if available).
Wrap-Up (5 minutes) 1. Feedback: -Praise creativity and proper use of "be going to." -Highlight a few strong examples from the presentations. 2. Reflection: - Ask: What was the most fun part of planning your celebration? NOTE: Mentimeter polling activity works best here. The teacher can choose any other technique according to the needs of the class at that moment.
