In this lesson students are going to review all they have learned about future simple, future continuous, first and second conditionals and practice speaking skills.

Main Aims

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5-7 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

At the beginning the teacher elicits the main stages of planning a trip. Students are divided into pairs to discuss the list of questions on the topic of planning the trip in the future

Gallery (7-10 minutes) • To speculate on the possible meaning

The teacher draws student’s attention to the walls where there are cards with the names of the stages of planning. Students are divided into pairs and are instructed to move around the room from card to card and discuss the possible meaning of the phrases written on the cards

Exposure (5-10 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

Students are given a text with the main stages of planning the future trip divided into paragraphs. The teacher divides the students into groups according to the number of paragraphs and each groups reads only the passage they are given. After reading students share the information from their paragraph with the rest of the class so that everybody have all the main ideas.

Useful language (5-10 minutes) • To study the vocabulary and phrases necessary for further activity

The teacher explains that later at the lesson students are going to plan a trip according to the stages given in the text before. For this reason the students are given a list of useful vocabulary and phrases to form their ideas.

Preparation (7-10 minutes) • To get ready to present the planned trip

Students work in pairs or small groups to plan a trip together using the given vocabulary and phrases and all the grammar they learned before

Presentation (10-15 minutes) • To present the plan they worked out with their partners

Students are now given the chance to share their ideas and plans for the trip. They choose one person from their pair or group to tell the rest of the class what they have planned and the class has to think of some questions for the speakers. Together with all of the pairs or groups the teacher listens to the ideas and also ask questions.

Feedback (5-7 minutes) • To evaluate the usefulness of the plan given in the text

Together with the students the teacher listens to the comments the class has and discusses the usefulness of the plan given in the text and listens to other ideas of the students

Home task (5-7 minutes) • To practice at home and secure the knowledge

Students are given a task to do at home, the teacher gives the instructions
