To clarify when The Past Simple tense is used, the teacher asks leading questions. When did all the actions happen: in the past, present or future? - In the past. Do we know exactly when they happened? - Yes, last summer, in August. How do we make verbs in Past Simple? - We have to add ED to the end of the verb. Then students skip the text and highlight all the verbs in Past Simple Tense. They have to state the rule how to add ED to different regular verbs. Listening task where students have to tick the sound they hear at the end of the verbs (-t, -d, -id) and they state the rule of pronunciation.
First task is to add the ending to the verbs correctly. Second task is to tick the sound that makes the ending (-t, -d, -id). Students check their answers while listening to the audio.
Tell what the people on the picture did last summer.
Students mingle and have to tell the partner what they did last summer in 40 seconds. Then they change partners. After the task some students have to tell what they remember about other students' last summers activities.
