Main Aims

  • Students will learn the use of whoever, whatever, wherever, no matter in the context of food.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To develop reading comprehension for gist and listening for specific detail skills in the context of food.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

1. The teacher will show the students some pictures of dishes from around the world. In OC, students have to say with which country they associate each dish. 2. Students will share with their peers if they have tried those dishes, if it is possible to eat this food in their countries, and if they have ever tried them or tried to cook them.

Exposure (10-15 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

Text Work 1. Students will read a text for gist to expose learners to the TL. They will answer to some questions in G-Forms. 2. Students will listen to an audio for specific details and will answer to some questions in G-Forms. Language Clarification Meaning 1. Students will match the words whoever, whatever, wherever, whenever with their definition. Form 1. Students will learn that the suffix -ever can combine with question words to form whatever, whenever, whoever, wherever. 2. Students will learn when to use these words in sentences. Pronunciation Students will learn the stress of the words whatever, whenever, whoever and wherever.

Controlled Practice (6-8 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Students will complete sentences with a word formed with -ever.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

1. Students will talk about a dish they can cook or know the origin of. They have to describe: a. It's origins if they know them. b. the ingredients how it's made. c. the best place to eat it. 2. Students also have to answer: d. Do you prefer cooking alone or with others? e. How do you feel when you cook? When they finish they will share their ideas with another partner. 3. Teacher will provide feedback to students.
