T sticks the picture of underground on the WB and says: 'This my favourite type of transport, because it is very fast. What is your favourite type of transport and why? Discuss with your partner.'
T writes 'transport' on the WB and distributes A2 papers to every group of Ss comprised of three people. They make a list of transport vocabulary in 3 minutes and then stick their papers on the WB. According to their list, T decides which words are necessary to pre-teach before the listening task.
T sticks the picture of London and Istanbul to the WB and elicits the names of the cities from Ss. Then T says: 'You will listen to the text about these two cities. Listen and find: Is it about food, transport or weather in those cities?' Ss listen and check their answer in pairs. WC feedback is provided.
Ss are given 5 statements about London and Istanbul transport. They read and in pairs try to find to which city each statement refers. Then, Ss listen and check their answers. After pair checking, WC feedback is provided. Instructions: 'There are 5 sentences.Firstly, read and find which of them is about Istanbul and London. Then we will listen and check.'
Ss will be divided into 'underground, bicycle, plane' groups. Each group will be given 6 sentences to complete with 'there is/are or you can'. Ss will be given 2 minutes for this task. WC feedback will be provided.
T will elicit the meaning of ' fast, slow, cheap, expensive' from Ss. CCQs: ' If I run, am I fast or slow?' Fast 'If underground is one lira, is it cheap or expensive?' Cheap Ss are given incomplete sentences about London and Istanbul. They will listen and complete them with above mentioned adjectives. They will check in pairs before WC feedback is provided.
T will stick the pictures of transport types on the walls and Ss will be given their names to stick under each picture. Ss will work in pairs and discuss positive and negative sides of each type of transport. Instructions: (Example)' A car is good because it is very fast. It is bad because it uses a lot of petrol'. 'You will discuss each type of transport with your partner and think(gesture) why it is good or bad'. ICQs: Are you going to speak about one type of transport? No Are you going to speak about good things only? No
