Description

In this lesson, the students will learn wish clauses ( I wish & If only ) through TTT method in the context of past regrets of the students'. The lesson will start with a brainstorming about past regrets to lead in. Then the teacher will clarify the grammer points through MFP.Finally,there will be some controlled practises and free speaking activities. If there is time, the students will play a game which is called 'grass skirt' activity.

Main Aims

To provide clarification and practice of wish clauses in the context of past regrets

Subsidiary Aims

To provide fluency and accuracy speaking practice in a conversation in the context of regrets

Procedure (33-50 minutes)

Warm Up- Lead in (5-7 minutes) • To set the lesson and engage the Ss' interest

T will play a calm music from Youtube ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-jegefnW_Zo ) Ss will close their eyes and start to think about 3 things that didn't happen in the past and how they are regret it. e.g. I wish I had been at Enrique Iglesias' concert last week. I wish I could speak Korean

Test • To test students' prior knowledge of the target language

Ss will make a full sentences of their 3 regrets in their HO. During the writing session, T will monitor the Ss and grab some sentences and write on the WB.

Teach (5-8 minutes) • To clarify the TL

T will do some correction on the WB about the sentences that comes from the Ss ( If it is necessary ) and introduce the TL in the concept of meaning, form & Pronunciation

Test-Controlled Practise (15-20 minutes) • To test the Ss' understanding of the TL and to give them a chance to practise on the TL

Ss will complete the exercises 1-2-3 on their HO Feedback : Ss will check their answer with their partners and as a whole class elicit the answers.

Test-Semi Controlled-Speaking (5-10 minutes) • To provide students with freer practice of the target language

Ss will work with a group of 3 and think about possible story behind each picture. Ss will make a sentence starting with I wish.... or If only......

Error Correction - Game (3-5 minutes) • To provide more practice on TL and encourage them to do error correction

T will introduce the game 'grass skirt' which is a kind of error correction game. Ss will split into 2 groups and they'll start to compete each other to find the wrong sentences that are given on the paper around the class.
