Procedure (29-40 minutes)
Inform students to answer the question given. Display the handout either in your hand or on the board and complete one question yourself. Hand out question to students. Students peer check. List answers on the board.
Inform students they will analyse the language in the same question and find the rules used for gerunds and infinitives. Display the task on the board. Do one example. Hand out task to students. Students work in pairs to complete task. Write answers on board. Clarify any answers if necessary, use CCQ's. Display information about words which can take both gerund and infinitive Ask students why they might be different. Students read the text from the board, select students to give their ideas. answer: the meaning changes. Hand out table of common verbs used with infinitive or the gerund for ss as reference.
Display next question on the board(personality-job match) inform students to fill in the gaps with the appropriate gerund, infinitive or infinitive + to Hand out worksheet Students work individually, then peer check. Write answers on board after completion.
Using the previous exercise, students tick the sentences that they agree with about themselves. They identify which colour has more ticks and then read the relevant job description outlined. students will discuss if they agree with the prediction or not not. Form groups of three. Ss ask each other, 'Do you agree with the prediction?' Would you like to do something else? Have you worked in another job? ( List these on the board as a guide)
