-
To provide clarification of free time activity words and phrases in the context of a TV prgramme
Procedure (38-47 minutes)
I ask students to say what activities they do in their free time. This lead-in is suitable as the reading text contains activities done in free time. Students answer this question individually.
To prepare students for the text and make it accessible, I am going to present some new vocabularies related directly to the reading text. Student will need these vocabularies in the following activity. I will use some Google pictures and flash cards. Then students in two groups match the words with the pictures. Finally they do an exercise in a handout taken from student's book.
I ask students to put in order seven phrases that express how much a person loves or hates something. Finally I help with the model answer finally. In two groups, they write sentences using these phrases and the vocabularies set presented before.
Students say what they can see in the picture. I attract their attention that this is a TV game show. They read and listen to the text. They find four things Mark likes and one thing he doesn't like. They will put their answer in a table on the board.
Students match Mark's questions about Kim to the presenter's answers. Then they write what she likes and what she dislikes in the table on the board.
I give students two short texts each at a time. They are about Susie and Jo. They read them . They write in the table on the board what each girl like and dislikes. Finally they look at the table and decide on which girl is suitable for Mark. They say why?
