Show slide #2 and discuss with Ss the following questions: 1. Do you read any magazines? 2. How are magazines different from newspapers? 3. Are there popular magazines in your country?
On slide #3, ask Ss to predict what we will hear in a story based on the identified vocabulary and the image. Part 1: Ss discuss in pairs in breakout room (3-4 minutes) Listen to audio. Ask Ss if the story was different than what they guessed
Explain the meaning and form of the following language: Apparently… Actually, it didn’t say… Did you hear about/read that story about…? That must have been... Use language from audio clip to complete the sentences while discussing meaning.
Assign Ss to A and B stories. Ss take 2-3 minutes to read their stories. T informs that the sentences are not in order. Ss enter breakout rooms and tell each other what their magazine stories are about. Encourage Ss to use TL. S not telling their story takes notes. (5 minutes each to tell their story) Ss switch partners, telling their story a second time and listening a second time (5 minutes each to tell their story)
Use Wheel of names (https://wheelofnames.com/) to select two students to talk about what their partner's story was about. (5-6 minutes) DEC from notes errors during the lesson.
