Description

in this engaging lesson, students will explore the theme of respect your parents through a carefully selected reading passage. the session will begin by showing the students some related pictures and they discuss the importance of respect toward others. then the students will be shown some vocabularies related to the passage with pictures and are asked to match the words to their definitions. after that the students will listen to the audio file for 3 times. through guided questions and reflection activities learners will analyze key concepts, draw personal connections, and share their thoughts in supportive envirenment. at the end students will be asked some reading comprehension questions and summerize the reading passage

Materials

Abc text book, Power point file, whiteboard marker, Audio file

Main Aims

  • To provide gist and deduction reading practice using text about "respect your parents" in the context of a story

Subsidiary Aims

  • students will enhance their reading comprehension skills by identifying main ideas and supporting details in teext about respecting their parents, also another subsidiary aim would be to foster understanding and appreciation of parental roles, encouraging students to recognize the value of respect in familial relationships.

Procedure

lead in (5-7 minutes) • to set context and engage the students

-Greeting -calling roles -T asks Ss to look at 4 pictures in the powerpoint and elaborate on them -T encourages Ss to guess the topic of the reading

pre_reading (5-10 minutes) • to prepare students for the text and make it accessible

1) T shows the following words on PowerPoint and asks Ss to guess the meaning of the words based on the related pictures 2) Ss then match each word to the definition 3) T works on the pronunciation of the words

while reading (10-15 minutes) • to provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading tasks

1) the audio will be played for the first time while the books are closed Ss listen closely and then Ss are asked to say the main idea and discuss it. 2) the audio file will be played for the 2nd time they look at the words and teacher ask Ss some reading comprehension questions 3) the audio file will be played for the 3rd time and teacher asks some detailed questions to make sure if the students have understood the text 4)teacher works on some difficult words and their pronunciations

post_reading (10-12 minutes) • to provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they`ve learned

1)teacher asks some of the students to summerise the passage in groups of 2 and then share their ideas in the class 2)teacher asks students to discuss about the moral of the reading and match it to the real life situation
