Main Aims

To provide detailed reading practice using a letter sent to the Royal Family. Students will also identify and analyze the different parts of a letter, preparing them for their final project. Skill: Reading Comprehension.
Subsidiary Aims

To provide accurate speaking practice about royal traditions, with a focus on the use of the simple present tense in the context of Christmas. Sub Skill: Speaking / Writing
Procedure (47-58 minutes)
1. Settle in, welcome students and Check attendance 2. Review Vocabulary and encourage students to answer in sentences using the simple present tense 3. The last picture (send a letter) is going to be the transition to the reading task which is a letter to the Royal family: The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
1. Project the letter on the board. Ask students to look at the Document and identify it. 2. Start by focusing the sender and the recipient write the answer on the board: This document is a letter FROM Harry Morris TO the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. 3. Identify the different elements of a letter 4. Distribute the Letter Template for students to label the different parts of the letter 5. Make sure the instructions are clear
Reading Out Loud: 1. Explain the first task for the first reading (CB pg 59 A Oral) 2. While reading ask students questions after each paragraph to make sure they are following P1: How does Harry spend Christmas? What does he want to Know? P2: What does Harry do in Christmas? What are his family traditions? P3: What does Harry do at the end?
Silent Reading: 1. Students got to their workbooks page 44 and fill in Harry's Identity card and family tree (they can work in pairs) 2. CB EX4 answer Harry's questions on the notebook.
Do the final writing task on the notebook: Time to write: Ask 2 more questions to the royal family. If there is time, Students ask each other the questions and respond to one another. If there is no time they can be used as a warm up to start the following class.
