Description

In this lesson students will learn useful lexis about films and films genre, Such as action,romantic,thriller, They will also learn the meaning form and pronunciation of lexis. Ss will practice the target language and will try to apply it in their daily routine life.

Procedure

Warmer (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students in topic

Teacher tells ss that he has seen an interesting film recently. Teacher asks ss to work in pairs and tell each other a movie that they have seen recently. Ss work in pairs and tell each other about the movie they saw recently. Teacher monitors the task. Teacher takes FB of whole class.

Test #1 (15-18 minutes) • To gauge students' prior knowledge of the target language

Brainstorm films types: Teacher draws two circles on the board and writes films at the center of them. Teacher asks students to work in groups of two or three and come up with words related to film's types. . Teacher asks ss to choose one representative from each group who will write words on the board. Teacher takes whole class feedback. Teacher gives another task of matching pictures in which ss will have to match pictures from films scenes and then will write films type according to scene. Teacher takes general feedback for this activity. Teacher asks ss to work in pairs and write adjectives under the each picture according to their understanding. Ss work in pairs and teacher monitors the task. Teacher takes feedback of whole class.

Teach (12-15 minutes) • To clarify areas of the target language where students had difficulty in the first test stage

Teacher will give instructions about next task and will ask icqs. Teacher will split ss into pairs. Teacher will give handouts containing reading task about films types. Ss will read the text and will try to understand meaning of underlined words. Ss will discuss the meaning with their partner. Teacher will ask ccqs about underlined vocabulary to elicit meaning and will make pronunciation correction where required.

Test #2 (6-8 minutes) • Check students' use of the target language again and compare with the first test

Teacher asks students to check again first task and match the pictures with correct films types individually, Teacher checks anticipated problems and provides solution. Teacher takes feedback.

Free practice (7-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Teacher sets the free activity task about ss films preferences. Teacher demonstrates the task and asks icqs. Teacher gives handouts to students. Students work in pairs and ask questions to each other. Students practice the target language and teacher monitors. Teacher takes the feedback.
