Subsidiary Aims

To provide fluency speaking practice about holiday types in the context of holiday
Procedure (41-51 minutes)
I will personalize the language by telling my students that I'm taking a holiday and what I'm looking forward to on my holiday. Then I will ask them if they take a holiday every year and what they do there.
In this exercise, students check a list of things people usually look forward to on their holidays and decide whether a man or a woman wants to do these things.
Students listen six interviews with people going on holiday and check their answers to the pre-listening activity. Students then work in pairs in order to decide on the best alternative before having whole class feedback.
Students listen again to six interviews and answer specific questions about all the speakers. They fill in the chart with answers about each speaker. Students check answers in pairs then go to the white board to write the answers.
Students match extracts from the same listening to six speakers. Then they listen and check their answers in pairs before they report to class.
Students now practice talking about what they most look forward to when they go on holiday. Having listened to a model language, students now will be able to discuss what they like doing on holiday using the target language in context.
Students play a vocabulary game in which each pair have a set of postcards and a set of holiday types. students place the holiday cards face down and spread the holiday types cards on the the table. Then each player draws a card and matches it to the holiday type then say if he/she wants to go on that holiday and why.
