To provide fluency and accuracy speaking practice in a discussion in the context of a day trip
Procedure (39-60 minutes)
Ss will discuss the questions with their partner in 3 minutes. - Do you often out for the day? -Where is the best place to go for a day out in İstanbul? -What do you prefer to do? walking,sport,sightseeing,shopping or picnic T will ask some of the student's thought about a day out CCQ's : Do I talk with my partner ? Yes How much time do you need? 3 min
T will write on the WB - "Perfect day" T introduce her perfect day to the Ss The Ss will make a list of 5 most important things for a good day out. T will ask each groups list and write these on the WB under the "Perfect day" headline Feedback: While the Ss are talking T will immediate error correction on the WB under the headline. ICQ's: Do I make a list ? Yes How many things Do I have to write? 5
The T will write on the WB ; holiday,excursion,weekend break,journey & tour. The Ss will match stories with these words on their HO and will check their partner. Feedback: As a whole class elicit the answers and clarify the meanings of the words. ICQ's : Do I match the words with the stories? Yes
The Ss will stand up with their HO and read A-D passages and try to find each letter's headline and write on their HO. Feedback as a whole class elicit the answers together
First The Ss will read the comments that are given in the exercise 2 The Ss will match the comments to the excursions in the reading passage. Feedback: T will change some of the Ss' place and encourage them to check with their answer with a new partner next to them. As a whole class elicit the answers.
The Ss will match 6 different group of people into these excursions A-D. ( with a partner) -Which excursions should these people choose to go on? Why? e.g. a businessman who wants to impress a customer can choose C/Bird's eye view. T will ask Ss' reasons and discuss as a whole class
With a group of 3, the Ss will discuss, -Which day trip would you choose to go on? Why ?
