Main Aims

  • To introduce and provide practice of speaking for fluency about leisure and leisure, relaxation and stress.

Subsidiary Aims

  • 1. To develop listening skills in the context of leisure, relaxation and stress. 2. To learn new vocabulary phrases in the context of relaxation and stress and be able to use them in speaking for fluency.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

1. Students will look at some images of people doing leisure activities and relaxing and other images in which they are stressed. Teacher will ask the students to tell what do they see in the pictures? 2. Teacher will ask the students to discuss in OCFB some of the following questions: What is one activity that makes you feel relaxed and happy? How do you recognise when you are feeling stressed?

Exposure (10-15 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

1. Students are going to listen to five people talking about their leisure activities. They will have to match in G-Forms the activity each of them does for relaxing. 2. Students will then match the vocabulary phrases with its correct meaning in G-slides. 3. Students will practice the correct pronunciation of some of the phrases.

Productive Task(s) (15-20 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

1. Students will work in pairs. They will think of situations where they have had the following reactions: feel very stressed out, be a bundle of nerves, be able to chill out or feel quite laid-back. They have to tell their partners how have they behaved on those situations? 2. Students will exchange partner and follow the procedure above.

Feedback and Error Correction (8-10 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

After listening to students in the Breakout rooms, the teacher will provide feedback on what she has heard the students have said correctly or incorrectly.
