Procedure (41-53 minutes)
I will stick six pictures of six different products for the same company before students come to class. I will tell them that this company will advertise for their products in this language school. Then students give their opinion.
Students will watch two commercials for children and work in pairs to discuss a few questions about adverts. Then they report to class. After that, students work in small groups and discuss more questions about advertising. Again once they have finished, there will be an open class feedback about their opinions.
Student read a text about advertising for children and choose the best summary of the text. Then they check answers with their partners and report to class.
Students read the text about advertising for children again and answer comprehensions questions. Then they check in pairs and and report to class.
In this exercise, students check the meaning of the highlighted words in the text. Then I check that students understanding the meaning of the key words by asking them CCQs. I also focus on form and pronunciation f these words by modelling and drilling.
Students work in pairs to talk about advertisements. one student sits with their back to the white board and their partner sits opposite to them. The students facing the board watch a commercial and describe what they are seeing to their partners. Then the ones with their backs to the board ask them questions related to the advert. Then they switch roles and watch another commercial and follow the same instructions.
I will monitor students working on the follow-up activity and write down some language chunks on the board to correct and reformulate.
