When did you meet him/her? 2) What's your hobby? When did you start doing it? 3) Why do you want to study English? When did you start learning English? 4) Where do you live? Did you live there when you were a child? 5) Did you enjoy your last weekend? What did you do?
Write on the first half of the WB: How long you know best friend? do your hobby? study English? live where you live now? How you spend your weekend recently? - Tell them to write questions in their notebooks looking at the clues on the WB (2 min) - Peerchecking. - SS work in pairs and ask each other the questions. Also, encourage them to ask follow-up questions. - T monitors and collects errors.
- Write on the WB Ss' errors: first 2 questions with the possible answers: 1) How long... you...know...best friend? I know my best friend from high school. 2) How long ... you .. do your hobby? I do my hobby since I was a child. - T works on the meaning of 2 positive sentences first by asking general questions: Are we still doing these things? or Did we stop doing them? - T asks CCQs and uses timelines if needed (as it's shown in the analysis) - T elicits the forms of Present Perfect Simple and Continuous. - Works on pronunciation of the structures. (I've) - After ask Ss to correct the 2 questions by looking at the answers. - Make sure you explain the difference between 'since' and 'for'. - Also, make sure you ask the SS the difference between the above 2 sentences: Ask CCQs - Can I say: I've been knowing my best friend from high school.
- Give out the handouts with the gapfill activity. - Ss work individually completing the positive, negative, question sentences with Present Perfect Simple or Continuous, for or since. - Peer-checking - Answer key. (Go over the difficult ones)
- Give out the Ho with the 5 questions and extra quetions. - Ask them to ask you 2 questions from the list and extra questions for each. - Have SS stand up and mingle around asking different people. - Feedback on the content and errors.
