Procedure (31-42 minutes)
Teacher will show students a picture of the Simpsons' family tree. She will go over the names of the characters(as some of these names can seem strange and/or difficult to pronounce for the students) and ask a few questions: -Who is Homer to Lisa? Homer is Lisa's father. (ICQ: Is he her brother/ husband? No) -Who is Lisa to Homer? Lisa is Homer's daughter. (Is she his wife, grandchild? No) Teacher then gives the students an exercise to match the names with the family words. FB and error correction on WB
Teacher will give students the photo of the Cooper family without the text and ask them ''Who do you think is the woman?'' ''Who do you think is the man?'' ''Who do you think is the girl?'' and ''Who do you think is the boy?'' Discuss with your partners
Teacher will get the students listen to the monologues once, and write down the ''names'' they will hear in the speech bubbles. Check with partners. FB Then the teacher gives them the photo with the text, students listen once again and do the controlled exercise 3. Check with partner. Fb and error correction The students will then listen to and practice sentences in exercise 3 Model and drill Exercise 6. FB and error correction
Teacher will show the students the photos of Mary and Sid and ask the students who they think they are. Then exercise 8a and b in pairs. FB and error correction.
The teacher asks the students to write the names of people in their own family. They work with a partner and ask questions to their partners about their family members. (Eg: How old is your brother? What's the job of your father? Is she married? etc). They will then tell another partner what they have learned about their first partner's family
