To provide the students practice time to produce sentences.
Procedure (45-59 minutes)
To start the lesson the teacher will write two sentences on the board. He may understand what is really happening. The fair could have been in any town in Europe. The teacher will then go through the sentences and the rule and what the difference is. The teacher will write another two sentences using may or might. One in the present use modal verb + infinitive and the other in the past use modal verb +have + past participle. For example: He may understand what is really happening. The magician could have been lying.
The teacher will then give the students a task where they have five sentences to change into the modal verbs that are shown in brackets. Students will be given an answer key to check there answers.
Students are then given a HO they have to try and fill in the gaps with the cant', mus or might. Students will get an snwer to check there answers.
CCQ: are we talking about the past or the present? Past Are they all in the past or just some? All The teacher will go through a couple of terms and meanings and pronunciation to clarify that the students understand.
Students will be put into groups and they will quuickly re-read the sentences in exercise two. Then the teacher will give them a set of pictures and in their groups will write similar sentences.
Students are given pictures and they discuss what they see and write down it down.
