To provide accuracy and fluency speaking practice in a conversation in the context of getting together
Procedure (40-50 minutes)
First I will use some personal photos/ a short story to set the context and engage the students, then I will ask them to share their personal experience of did they meet their boy/girlfriend or wife/husband.
Three questions will be written on the white board - How do people get to know new friends - How do people get in touch with old friends - How do people can meet a future partner The students set in pairs and make a list of ways people can do the things above. Then they will compare their lists with the other students.
Students will be asked to skim the text and then to explain briefly how people get together in each case and what kind of people is each way most suitable for. Later on, a list of expressions and definitions will be given, students should find their matches.
In order to get a more detailed information about some specific questions that the teacher will give to students, the students should read for details and check their answers in pairs.
In small groups students will discuss some questions and share their opinions about the ways of meeting people.
