Procedure (27-35 minutes)
Food Charades How to play: Divide the class into two teams. Instructions: A student from each team comes to the front and acts out a food item without speaking. Goal: The first team to guess the food item correctly and use "some" or "any" in a sentence (e.g., "Is there any pizza?") wins a point.
Picture Story: Show pictures of a kitchen with various food items. Ask questions about the food: What food is on the table? Is there any milk in the fridge? Are there any apples in the fruit bowl?
Vocabulary Focus: Review the concept of countable and uncountable nouns. Structure Focus: Model the use of "some" and "any" with different types of nouns: "There is some juice." (uncountable) "There are some apples." (countable) "Is there any milk?" (uncountable) "Are there any oranges?" (countable)
Food Memory Game: Set-up: Prepare a set of flashcards with pictures of food items. Instructions: Place the flashcards face down on a table. Task: Students take turns flipping over two cards. Rules: If the cards match, the student keeps the pair and takes another turn. If the cards don't match, they are turned face down again. Goal: The student with the most pairs at the end of the game wins.
Food Quiz Set-up: Divide the class into two teams. Instructions: Question Round: The teacher asks questions about food and drink using "some" and "any." Example questions: "Is there any pizza on the menu?" "Are there any cookies in the jar?" "Do you eat any vegetables?" "Do you drink any milk?" Answer Round: The first team to raise their hand and answer correctly gets a point.
Food Pictionary: Divide the class into two teams. One student from each team draws a food item on the board while their teammates try to guess it, using "some" or "any" in their guesses.
