Procedure (70-90 minutes)
The T starts the class with a brief greeting. (How is everything?, how was the school today?) The T plays a fun song about beach to prepare Ss for the context. Then shows the picture of a beach and asks Ss if they like going to the beach. The T groups Ss by using stickers of (Tom & Jerry cartoon) and puts the main Q on the board what is your favorite activity at the beach: for example (making a sandcastle, walking , finding shells and playing with a ball ). Ss are going to talk if they have ever been to the beach and share their experiences. They have 3 minutes. ICQ: You have 3 minutes or 5 minutes? The T gets FB at the end of the discussion.
The T elicits vocabs using the pictures from the power point and writes the words on the board. By concept checking questions makes sure that Ss understand the differences between the sea sports. The T drills and checks the pronunciation after each vocab being taught chorally and individually.
The T provides a game of the target words to clarify the meaning of vocabs for Ss. The T shows pictures and some options provided in a video and the T plays a role of a person who can`t remember the words that have been taught and Ss are asked to help the teacher remember.
The T provides a game. T has the flash cards of the vocabs. T sticks them on the board .there are 8 new words but 7 of them on the board, so the students will be asked to find the missed one. Freer activity : The T groups the Ss by using stickers of (Tom & Jerry cartoon), then writes the Q (Think about the next time you go to the beach with your family, which activity do you like to do?) and asks the Ss to discuss in their groups. ICQ: You choose the activities of the lesson or other activities? Do you have 3 minutes or 5 minutes? The T monitors the groups and finally gets FB.
The students will be asked to open their books .They are asked to look at the pictures and answer the follow up Q related to the story.(who do you see in the first picture ?where are they ?,what can you see in the second picture?, how are they feeling? sad or happy, what is the weather like there?). By these Q the Ss will have a preconception of the story and guess the things that happens in the story. The T asks the Ss to count and name the pre-taught vocabs. Then T plays the video of the story ICQ: Just count them or count & name?
With book closed the T asks the Ss to remember the watersports Leo does in the story, who does Amy call?, what does Max/Holly do? The Ss would answer Holly plays with a ball /Max reads his book/Amy talks to her mother on the phone.
With regard to the lead-in, the T asks them (always?, he reads his book everyday, is it a routine or just now/ this moment?, Holly finished playing or still playing? ,does it take a short time or a long time?) then the T writes the model sentence on the board and works on form & pronunciation as well. T will elicit the following information from students The T makes some other examples by changing subjects and verbs, also in the negative form and asks the Ss to repeat after her.
The Ss will be asked to open their books and do exercises 3 & 4 (p31) then check their answers in pairs, ICQ: Which page?, exercise 3 &4 or just 3? T will get FB.
With their books closed the T writes some sentences from the story on the board with blank parts and asks the Ss to watch the video again and fill the gaps. Then they are going to compare and check their answers in pairs. T will get FB. T groups students in 3 and asks Ss to open their books and act out the story in their groups and try to memorize their dialogues. The T assigns the role of each character to the Ss. They have 5 minutes. The T monitors the students during the role play. As a FB the T would choose 1 role from each group by picker wheel to act out the story for the whole class by heart; if a student can't remember the dialogues ,the T will help them by whispering.
The T handouts some papers of picture description and asks students to make the sentences related to the picture. they are asked to write the sentences and then compare the sentences in pairs. ICQ: I asked you to write your sentences or memorize them? The T gets FB and check their answers.
The T divides the Ss into two groups and presents a prepared game on the website and each group is going to get a score for a right answer. The game is unscrambled sentences related to the target language and students are asked to put the words in a correct order.
