To practice use of a basic adjectives when describing animals in the zoo.

To practice speaking about zoo animals using adjectives .
Procedure (28-42 minutes)
Play a short video clip of animals in the zoo. Give out task 1. Chn to tick the animals they saw in the video. Cross check with a partner.
Show ss adjective flashcards. Elicit words that they can use to describe the picture. Drill adjectives. Play SWAT! Ask ss if they have been to a zoo before. Show ss a picture of a zoo and elicit animals we can find there. Show ss adjectives words cards, get them to stick it to the picture.
Show ss adjective word cards, drill and stick on the board Ss watch a short video clip of zoo animals. Elicit the different animals they saw from the video. Review parts of the body. Pick up an animal picture, write sentence structure on the board, elicit from ss what word to use in describing the animal. A Giraffe has a long neck. It has small ears.
Put students in groups. Give out task 1( Gap-fill). one group gets a different animal. monitor and assist as necessary.
Assign letters to each ss in a group, and tell them where to stand. Chn to read out what they have written to each other.
Give ss templates to draw and colour(early finishers) their favourite zoo animal. TT models how to do free practice activity. SS stand in a circle, tt plays music, when it stops, ss describe their animals to the ss next to them. Shuffle line and start again.
