Description

In this lesson students will learn the name of some animals which are interesting for this age level.They will also practice the structure" can you see a/ an -------? Yes, I can./No, I can't. Then later on they'll move to What can you see? I can see 3 turtles.Many settler and stirrer activities will be alternately used to keep them engaged.

Abc pictures of the animals in the lesson
Abc 2 paper fans

Main Aims

  • To introduce some animals living near the pond and their plurals.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To give practice in written accuracy focusing on spelling of the words taught ,their plurals and written form of numbers

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (2-3 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I'll show them a poster of the environment where these animals live in and elicit if they know some of them. T: what animals live here?

Exposure (3-5 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

If they come up with some names I will ask ss to stick the picture on the poster. If not I will introduce the words show the picture, and ask them to come to the board and stick the picture on the poster ,ask for choral and individual repetition.I'll write the names of animals next to them.

Controlled practice (4-6 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language and the spelling of the words

*Singing a song, ss point. Pictures dispersed around the room. I can see a spider I can see a frog I can see a turtle I can see an ant I can see a lizard Ladybug Cool animals are her and there! *Fly swatter game with the written name of the words,without using the pictures.

Semi-controlled Practice # 1 (8-10 minutes) • To practice the grammar and the vocabulary in the context of a game.

*Poster on the board. T: I spy with my little brown eye something starting with "L".etc------ Students finding the word and saying them. *Review and practice the numbers .Write them on the board and also the written form of the numbers.(1-7) Join the numbers with their written form * I put them in pairs and give them smaller version of the poster and want them to write how many frogs they can see.

Semi-Controlled Practice (4-6 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

Which one next? A set of pictures will be given to each pair. Together they will find which animal should be next.Check with other pairs.WC feedback.

Free Practice (6-8 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

T: Look at the poster and each pair write 3 sentences using the name of the animals and the number related.Done in groups. Check with the other group. Give an example.
