in this plan the students learn new vocabulary through receptive skills by reading a text. they will be given questions to read before they read the text, essential lexis will be pre-taught. in the end they will be given a free practice

  • To provide detailed reading practice using a text about why are we so impatient in the context of technology

  • To provide clarification of tech words in the context of technology

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (1-3 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

on this stage I talk about my experience using the internet cafes in Iran and ask the students to share their experience to draw their attention to target material

Pre-Reading/Listening (2-4 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

on this stage I teach the key words the students will find in the reading text using pictures, first I work on meaning by asking the students to guess it by looking at the picture then I work on the form by asking the students (is it a noun, adverb or a verb)

While-Reading/Listening #1 (3-5 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

on this stage I give the students a minute to read a gist question then they're given 2 minutes to read the first part of the text to find the answer, the answer will be checked with the whole class

While-Reading/Listening #2 (9-12 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

on this stage the students are given a minute to read 8 questions individually then they're given 7 minutes to read the text and find the answers the answers will be checked with the whole class, then they're given another minute to find 5 technology words in the text.

Post-Reading/Listening (2-3 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

on this stage students are given 2 minutes to answer three questions related to the reading text to answer with a partner the answers will be checked with the whole class
