Description

In this lesson, students are going to learn some word and phrases about photo and taking pictures through a reading. they will read a story about a woman in south of France. then they will do some exercises related to the reading.

Main Aims

  • To provide detailed reading practice using a text about photographing in the context of travel to south of France

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide clarification of words which were used in the questions related to the reading in the context of travel to south of France

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (6-9 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

students will be asked some questions related to the reading: Have you ever be in a situation that you had to took lots of photos? how often do you take pictures? do you see yourself as an professional in taking pictures?

Pre-Reading/Listening (6-10 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

Students will guess the meaning of the key words related to the reading by seeing some pictures. they will be asked if that word is a noun verb adj or... then they will see some sentence examples related to that word. they will check their answers in pairs then with whole class. advertising agency, situation, breaking up, owl, escape

While-Reading/Listening #1 (6-10 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

Students will answer some gist questions by looking at a picture related to the reading.1-What decade do you think it is from?2- What do you think the couple is looking at? then they will have 2 minutes to read the first paragraph of the reading and answer this skimming questions: how Janes life changed when she went on a vacation in the south of France?

While-Reading/Listening #2 (13-16 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

Students will have 10 minutes to read the rest of the reading to answer these detailed questions: what did they often do on Sunday? why did they stop in the gardens and what did they see? How did Jane get a copy of the photo? they will check their answers in pairs then with whole class.

Post-Reading/Listening (13-13 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

Students will be asked to talk to each other in group of 3 or 4 about Is there a photo with you in it that you really love? Why do you like it so much?
