Description

In this lesson, the sts will listen a true story followed on previous lesson.After hearing the true story they are supposed to compare the story with their stories and try to find similarities.In the next listening activity they will listen again and put the words in the correct order. Having heard the true story they are supposed to retell the story to their partner.Retelling the story will be followed by the language of stroies,news and newspapers.The sts are supposed to find some examples of characteristics of new stories. At the end of the lesson the sts will discuss the questions about the listening part.

Main Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation in the context of true story

Procedure

Warmer (3-4 minutes) • To prepare sts for the listening activity.

Ask the words that they learn in their previous lesson rty to elicit the whole words if not give them some clues to remind the words. Ask What would be the story about, let them to talk about the subject of the story.

Listening (5-7 minutes) • To listen for specific information

The sts will listen and try to find the similarities between their story and the true story. The sts are supposed to discuss the similarities with their partner.

Watching the video about true story (3-5 minutes) • To get the sts have a visual activity about the story they hear.

Listening (5-7 minutes) • To practice listening for specific information

The sts will listen the true story and try to put the words in their correct order. The sts have studied these words in Speaking&Writing exercise 3 so if they don't remember the teacher will try to remind them and elicit the rest of the words.The teacher will monitor and before getting FB by asking them the right order they are supposed to compare their answers with their partner. If necessary they will listen again.

Finding examples (5-7 minutes) • To read the text to find specific information

The sts are supposed to scan and find some examples of characteristic of news stories. The teacher will a give task and ask them the language of the news stories. The teacher will try to elicit some ideas after that the teacher will write some examples on WB and ask them to find some examples in the text. They are supposed to work in pairs.

Discussion (7-10 minutes) • To give sts controlled speaking activity.

The sts are supposed to answer the quesitons about the story they hear. As there are examples of different questions like discussing the character and think of a similiar story they are supposed to share their ideas in their groups. The teacher will monitor and take some notes to use them in FB

Pronunciation (5-7 minutes) • To elicit the meaning of some words.

Write on WB "We are gonna be in the Hudson" ask the sts the meaning of the reduced forms and get them to guess the meaning of "gonna".If time activity: Write on WB didja,doncha,dunno,gimmie,gotta, kinda and ask the sts to guess the meaning and try to find which reduced forms are they. If necessary play the audio 1.45.
