Description

In this lesson the students are going to listen to 5 people talking about five different things and how their lives have changed when something happened to them.

Main Aims

  • To provide detailed listening practice using a text about things that have changed some people lives in the context of different things

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation in the context of talking about how an event can change a life

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (6-9 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I will show my students a picture of 2 different lifestyle. then they will be asked what they think about these pictures, which situation they prefer and how a lifestyle can change like this, have they ever experienced an event that changed their lives?

Pre-Reading/Listening (6-8 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

The students will be informed about the meaning of the following vocabularies used in the text by trying to guess the meaning of the words by looking at some related pictures. they will check the answers in pairs and then with the whole class

While-Reading/Listening #1 (6-10 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

the students will listen to track and try to answer the following questions; what are they talking about? Write the numbers of the speakers next to the topics

While-Reading/Listening #2 (13-16 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

Students will be asked to read the questions on page 39 part B and then the audio file will be played again. they have to answer the questions with the number of the speakers and write the number of the correct speaker in the correct box. they will have 2 minutes to check their answers in pairs then we will check the answers with the whole class.

Post-Reading/Listening (13-16 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

students will have a discussion in groups of 3 about the following questions: how has your life changed over the last 3 years? do you spend more or less time on studying? do you have more or less free time? why?
