Materials
Main Aims
-
To provide practice of present simple tense for 1st singular person in the context of daily activities
Subsidiary Aims
-
To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation in the context of daily activities
Procedure (33-40 minutes)
Show to the students the pictures of 6 daily activities. Elicit the names. Drill pronunciation. Write them to the board.
Show the flashcards to the students. Slowly moves, elicit from them. Stick it on the board. Take the following FC and so on. They are randomly arranged, not chronologically. Ask the students if the order (sequence) is correct, if not, ask them to tell the correct order. Arrange the students in 3 groups (3 or 4 students in a group, depending on their total number). Give to each group 4 verbs, but because they are composed verbs, they receive pieces. Eg: one gets #wake#, the other one gets #go to#, other # bed# and another #up#. MODEL IT first yourself, then model it with one student. Then ask the students to match the words so they can get the correct verbs. After they have finished the verbs, ask each of them to stick his/her verb to the related FC from the board. So, students match the form (verbs) to the pictures.
Provide the Fill in and Match worksheet to the students. Model: first fill in the missing letters of the verbs then match the picture to the verb. Model with one student. Then get the students to the worksheets. Ask them to check with the peer.
Write on the board@ I wake up at 8 am each day. Form: S+Vb Meaning: used to describe the daily routines activities, repetitive activities and general truths. (ONLY FOR LESSON PLAN) Model it: I ride a bike after the school. I read a book before sleeping. I go to bed at 10 pm. Ask the students to write 5 sentences about themselves for daily routine activities. Then they check it in pairs and then with entire class.
Line up the students (2 parallel lines). Now they should practice the vocab and sentences they have just learned. One line is moving, the other one is fixed. One student speak, the other one listen. At a clap, they change, the other one speaks. Make sure that all of them are involved and all of them practice the vocab.
