Procedure (27-43 minutes)
Put up pictures on the board. Ask students in their small groups to put them in groups. Appoint one student from each group to put them in the groups the group decided. Ask that group why they decided on that? Repeat for the other groups.
Elicit from ss what they think today's lesson will be about. Put pictures in the right other, and put up tittles. Elicit what the tittles mean. Students read on their own quickly. Elicit the different animals they saw from the text. Explain task one. Give out questions ICQ- Are you going to work alone or together? Review answers together.
Explain task 2 to ss. Ask ss to work in a small group. Hand out cut up question stripes. Give ss a short time to make their questions. Ask students to walk around and check if they had the same questions with other groups. Review answers together(Get ss to read the full questions aloud).
*(If necessary) Ask ss to read the article quickly again and identify any vocabulary that they don't understand. write it on the board as they call out. Check if other students can help them explain the meaning (in English). Explain if it's not clear
Ask students to read the article again. This time to them selves. Explain task 3. CCQ- Does T mean Doesn't say? Write a key on the board. Review answers together and encourage ss to justify their answers by giving reasons(where in the text did they get the information?).
Model (write the form on the board....I learned that.... what you have learnt from the article: I learned that crocodiles have more than 70,000 teeth. I learned that butterflies don't use their mouth to taste food. Ask ss randomly to say what they have learnt. Ask ss to move around and ask each other what they have learnt.
