To give students practice in reading from gist and detail in the context of most embarrassing stories.
Procedure (32-45 minutes)
I will start to my lesson elicit to embarrassing word to tell story abot my life. It is going to be about most embarrasing moment in my life.
I will show them two embarrassing photos and three embarrassing photos mentioned in their text. They will see the pictures and they will look. I will convey the meaning by giving a situation. I will drill the word and then I will write it on the white board.
I will also distribute handouts to the students and have them read the text on their own fairly quickly. I will give them 5 minutes to read through the first time. Did they go to Halloween party together? What do you think this story is the most embarrassing? Then, I will have them work in pairs to complete reading. For the article, I am going to see if they can remember what they read and I am also going to listen their answers. I am going to give them about three minutes to complete this exercise with a partner.
Have students read the article once again for more detail. Then they should complete whole articles with a partner, answering specific questions. They will work in pairs. I will tell them look at the Picture A and C then describe what's happening in each one. Which of these situations do you think is the most embarrassing? I will give them about 6 minutes . Then, I will tell them read the messages from an internet discussion group for teachers and match them to the pictues. I will give them about 6 minutes to read, 8 minutes to complete exercise, then check answers as a class.
Now, I will ask to the studens do you have any embarrassing moments in your life. They will work in groups and I will give them about 8 minutes to discuss and share their answers as a class.
