Guessing game : What are the people in the picture doing? T: You can not see the picture .Just guess what they are doing. There might be some gradual disclosure of the picture if needed.
Show the first picture, ask questions and elicit info. T: What's she doing? Ss answer. T: Where's she going? If they don't know some words or expressions, pre-teach them. eg: waiting for the bus, sports centre, watching TV Give them the second picture.Let them ask and answer in pairs. Ss asking and answering each other. What is he doing? Is he listening to the radio?
Work on sentence stress . Ss listen and repeat through back chaining drilling.
Practice the dialog using vanishing dialog technique.I write the dialog on strips of paper and stick them on the board. Ss divided into two groups repeat their share of the dialog . Then gradually the dialog vanishes sentence by sentence. This way ss memorize the dialog.
For the second dialog I give them time to complete the missing part of it. Then they have to mingle and check their answers. If needed a whole class feedback is given.Class in 2 groups practice the dialog. T: Make a circle . Let's play a game.I say a sentence 1 throw the ball to a s you catch the ball and say sentence 2; throw the ball to another s.
Play a sentence game by dividing the class into two groups Ss from group 1 asking and the ss from group 2 answering T: What S1: What are you doing? T: Play tennis S2: I'm playing tennis T: Is Kate S3: Is Kate reading a book? etc.... Each correct sentence will add a point and each wrong answer will withdraw a point from the groups
If time allows the rhyme in the book will be chanted using mimicry and board pictures.
