Main Aims

  • To provide clarification and practice of language used for agreeing and disagreeing politely

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provode students listening and speaking practice in the context of disagreeing and agreeing politely.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

The teacher will show the students the photo of F2F p 22 and elicit the TL for the lesson: how to agree or disagree politely. 1 Were your parents strict about food and meal times when you were a child? If so, in what way? 2 Were you a fussy eater as a child? If so, what food would/wouldn't you eat? 3 Do you think children naturally have a preference for food that tastes sweet or savoury? If so, give examples of the types of food. 4 What kind of things do children in your country eat these days? What don't they eat? Has this changed over the years?

Text work (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

The teacher will ask the students to complete ex 2b from F2F p 22 using Google Forms. The teacher will play the audio for students to complete exercise 3a using Google Forms.

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

The teacher will cover MFPA using Google Slides of 4 lexis items: I don't know about that. Oh, do you think so? That's a good point. I suppose you've got a point there.

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

The students will answer individually exercise 5a using Google Forms. Then, The teacher will check the answers with OCFB.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

The students will have an opportunity to practice the TL in BORs discussing what food they love and what food they hate.
