Description
Main Aims

To give students practice in listening for gist, specific information and detail in the context of genealogy.
Subsidiary Aims
-
To review and give students practice in present tenses/simple, perfect and continuous.
Procedure (33-45 minutes)
-Students are given a picture of a famous German national player who is originally from Turkey. They are then asked questions about his family and ancestors. -Teacher draws the player's family tree then students are the asked to draw theirs.
-Students listen for 10 seconds to the audio then try to predict what is the problem according to the speaker and what does she suggest. - Students then in small groups will listen to the audio and answer the same questions. After they listen they have to check their answers to see if their predictions were right. This is done in small groups. Teacher take whole class feedback
Teacher will use some pictures and strips of paper to elicit the meaning of some words. Students will get in groups of four to guess the meaning of the words that are presented.
Students think of two ways to research their family history (pair work) Students then listen to the audio at least two times and see if they have got the same ideas as those suggested in the audio. They then check with their peers. Teacher elicit feedback from the students
Students will work in small groups on exercise 1 on page number 9. Students will then will continue up to exercise 2 on the same page. Teacher will elicit and check if there is any question or problem.
Teacher will ask general question about family tree and history. Students will talk about their family trees and may be their origins.
