in this lesson students are going to learn about present perfect +for/since in the context of phobias and fear. students are going to practice reading and learn new words about phobias and for the last part they are going to have a conversation with each other using present perfect

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification of present perfect in the context of phobias

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide accuracy speaking practice in a conversation in the context of phobias

Procedure

Warmer / Lead in (2-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

in this stage I will introduce students to our new topic by talking about it's background and using examples

Exposure (4-6 minutes) • To provide context for target language through examples and situations

I will ask students about their fears and phobias .either their own phobias or their relatives'

Highlighting (3-5 minutes) • To draw students' attention to target language

In this stage i will write sentences that students said in their correct form on the whiteboard

Clarification (10-20 minutes) • To clarify form meaning and pronounciation of traget language

I will draw a Timeline on the board and ask some CCQs for clarification of the meaning e.g. when did this action happend past or present?past .Is it still happening or not? yes .I will draw a timeline and show that we use for to talk about a period of time e.g.(for 3 years) and we use since to talk about a point in past when our action has been started until now e.g. (since childhood)After that i will elicit sentences' structures from the students in order to clarify form of grammer for them e.g. Have /Has+ past participle and clarifying correct forms of past participle for irregular and regular verbs

Controlled practice (5-7 minutes) • To concept check

Students are going to do exercise d on page 143 exercise a for 5 minutes and then check the answers in pair then we are going to check it with whole class. for 2 minutes.

Free practice (10-15 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of target language

I will ask my students to talk about someone they know who has phobia using present perfect and new words
