Procedure

warmer - simon says (5-8 minutes) • to recap the place prepositions

recap prepositions (5-5 minutes) • to focus on the form and check the meaning of place prepositions

ask ss for the sentences - I said. Elicit one or two and then show the rest of the sentences on powerpoint. Ask ss to complete the sentences: fill in the gaps.

(5-5 minutes) • to practice reading skills in context of picture of kitchen

Flash picture and elicit ss ideas. Where is she? What things can you see? give HO 1 to ss and ask ss to choose the correct answers. Check in pairs before WCFB: Check the meaning of any unknown words: skirt, standing

Grammar check (10-10 minutes) • To guide ss to understanding of present continuous tense - form & function

Write sentences on the board and highlight the form. She's sitting in the kitchen. She's wearing a skirt. She's drinking milk. Elicit the function: CCQs : Is she sitting in the kitchen now? Does she sit in the kitchen all day? Is she wearing a skirt now? Does she wear a skirt everyday? / all day? Is she drinking milk now? Does she drink milk all day? We use this tense when somebody does something now! Elicit form of tense: am / is / are verb + ing Elicit name of the tense. elicit the negative and question forms and board.

controlled practice (8-10 minutes) • to give controlled practice of the present simple continuous tense

Show picture to ss on Ppt and elicit 2 example sentences from the ss. Write them on the board. Ask ss to work in pairs and write 6 sentences 3x present cont 3x prep about the picture. Check answers with pair before WCFB.

semi-controlled practice (10-15 minutes) • to give semi-controlled practice of res cont and place preps

Put ss in pairs. Give each pair a picture and ask ss to write 8 sentences about the picture. Monitor and check. Collect pictures and stick them around the class. Give sentences to another group and ask them to match the sentences to the correct picture. Ask ss to go and correct any mistakes they see. WCFB - error correction

freer practice (10-10 minutes) • to give ss freer oral practice of place prep and present cont tense

Re-elicit the question / negative form of the present cont tense. Show spot the difference pict on the board and model activity. Give pictures to pairs and ask them to speak and find 6 + differences (depending on time.) WCFB
