Simple Present Tense Negatives

Description

Lesson will start with the presentation of new words.Students will relate these words with the working places which are open 7/24. Students will elicit present simple negatives in the context of working problems problems.Teacher will clarify the form and students will do grammar exercises and speak about about what they dont do.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

As the students familiar with the context I will start teaching them the words 'positive' and 'negative'.T puts a tick and cross on the WB. and tries to elicit the words positive and negative.

Highlighting (5-8 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

T sticks hospital and bank on the WB and writes open and close next to them. After, T sticks 7/24 hour on the WB.T asks Do you remember the text from last lesson? Ss say yes and T points the 7/24 and asks What does it mean? T asks Are the hospitals open or close 7/24? S say close.T puts a tick under the open and cross under the close.T does the same thing with the bank.T says hospitals don't close and T asks CCQs.Are hospitals always open?(yes) Can you go to a hospital at night?(yes).T writes on the WB hospitals don't close and T does choral and individual drilling.T asks Ss to underline the negative sentences individually and Ss check them with their pairs.

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

T reflects a handout on the WB , puts the Ss into pairs and asks them to complete the chart with their pairs.T asks ICQs 1)Will you write or read?(write) 2)Will you do in pairs or alone?(pairs) .After Ss finish, they change pairs and check the answers.T asks Ss to come to the board and complete the chart.T corrects the Ss if they make any mistake.

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

T shows Ss a handout,gives the instructions and asks Ss to do it individullay.T asks ICQs 1)Will you do write?(yes) 2)Will you do it with your partner?(no).T monitors while the Ss are doing the handout.After Ss finish the activity,they check with their pairs and T gives answer key.

Semi-Controlled Practice (5-8 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

T puts the Ss into pairs and gives them four different sentence with one different and asks the Ss to find the different one and discuss with their pairs.T asks ICQs 1)How many senteces are there?( four) 2)Will you discuss or listen?(discuss) T gives Ss broken sentences and they put the pieces together to make a maningful sentence.T asks ICQs 1)Will you do with your partners?(yes) 2)put the pieces together?(yes)

Free Practice(not totally free) (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Ss write some positive and negative sentences about them and and read their sentences to their partners.
