Perfect Forms Grammar
Upper Intermediate/Advanced level
Main Aims

To introduce students to and provide practice for the use of perfect tenses in the context of sharing opinions on past, current and future inventions.
Subsidiary Aims

Students will practice and develop the sub-skill of scanning audio text for detail.

Students will practice and develop the skill of note-taking.
Procedure (34-46 minutes)
T will display Google Slides with Big Question and Goal. T will read big questions and ask S to read the goal. T will contextualize the lesson and have a S read the lead-in paragraph. T will ask Ss the lead-in questions and elicit responses.
T will provide task link and task instructions. T will play audio and review answers with Ss. T will share audio transcript, point out that the document also contains a reference sheet for perfect forms. T will instruct students to click next and tell students that after this task they’ll click submit. T will play audio and and then review the Google form responses to assess/correct Ss understanding.
MF T will provide task link and task instructions, reminding Ss to click submit when complete. Ss will join breakout rooms for 3-4 minutes to complete the activity with partners. Upon S's return from BOR, T will view Google form responses and correct mistakes. Form will be reviewed by eliciting responses whole group. T will display Google Slides ‘Meaning and Form Follow Up’ slide ask CCQs and FCQs to double-check student knowledge. P T will display the ‘Perfect Pronunciation’ Google Slide and facilitate choral/individual drilling for TL. T will point out weak forms, auxiliaries, and intonation.
T will provide task link and task instructions. Ss will work on task for 3 minutes before entering BORs to compare answers with partners for 2 minutes. T will view responses on Google Forms.
T will provide task link and instruction. T will demo note-taking and a sample conversation. Ss will spend 3 minutes taking notes on the options they want to share. Ss will enter BOR and share opinions with partners.
T will ask for volunteers to share their opinions/use of TL. T will point out areas of growth and areas of strength.
