Main Aims

  • To introduce and practice will in the context of predictions.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide gist reading practice using a text about ¨How do you think people will listen to music in the future?¨ in context of predictions

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-4 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T starts the lesson by showing Ss a picture of a futuristic city. T asks a couple of questions about it. How do you think people communicate in this city? Would you like to live in a place like this? Why or why not? T listen to student's answers for around 2 minutes.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

T will show students three pictures and ask them to choose which one best represents the text's title. Then T will tell the students to look at the reading text about predictions and to read it quickly. Students will complete two statements about the reading text in Google Forms for around 3 minutes and finally, the answer keys will be shown once time's finished.

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

T will show a short text about a kid sharing some predictions. T will ask students to work on a True/False exercise in class altogether. T takes notes about Ss answers. T shares some comments to provide some support.

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

T will cover the meaning, form, and pronunciation of TL using a power presentation. T will drill the target vocabulary with the whole class trying to elicit the word stress and provide it on the board. SS might have difficulty pronouncing some words so I will write the phonemic alphabet of these words. T will also clarify the use of the Will expression to have students understand its use.

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

T will have students work on Google Forms. Ss will fill the spaces in blank to practice the use of Will and Won't for 5 minutes, then they will compare their answers in pairs using Breakout Rooms for 3 more minutes to finally show the answers of each exercise.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

T will have students work in pairs using BORs to talk about their future predictions about different topics. Ss have to use the TL so T will monitor them in the BORs. Ss have to provide some details on it and use follow-up questions if needed. T will use breakout rooms and check on Ss in case they have questions about the lesson. To conclude, T will conduct Feedback and DEC.
