Description
Materials
Main Aims
-
My main aim is to clarify adjectives of feelings with depended prepositions when talking about school days.
Subsidiary Aims
-
My subsidiary aims are give the students opportunity to speak about memories of school days and so letting students to practice speaking accurately and fluently about feelings of schooldays
Procedure (40-54 minutes)
I will set the context by eliciting the Word ''school'' and writing in the centre of WB. I will draw four lines branching out from words as a model and write ''subjects, verbs, people and in class'' at the end of each line and want students to write four words related to each lines
I will tell Sts a story about my own feelings of when I was at school such as I was good at English but I didn't like chemistry. Later in pairs,I will let Sts share their own feelings and experiences. At the same time I'll monitör them and make a note of any adjectives I hear them mention .
I'll divide the WB into two columns -with positive and negative as headings and on the top I will write the whole words I will teachbut without prepostion so that I can check if they know the meaning of the wors or not.(good, bored, afraid, fond, interested, terrible, keen) .At the same time I will provide the right pronounciation of the adjectives.
At this stage I will ask studens some CCQ like ''Do you feel interested before an exam?' to check understanding and later want them to catagorize the right column as negative feeling or positive feeling.
I will put students in to small groups and give each one cut-up cards containing different adjectives of feelings but without prepositions.Later I'll provide each group with a brief story about my own school days which includes answers and later want each group to check another group's work .Later I will give a handout in which students will find out the missing part of the adjectives.
If I have enough time I will give extra discussion points such as -What are/were your favorite subjects at school? Why?What subjects don't /didn't you like? Why? -Should students study things that are directly useful for life or getting a job,eg how to repair a car?how to bath a baby? How to cook? Which school subject do you think is not useful for life? -What subject isn't taught at school but should be? -If you could redesign school timetables, what is the biggest change you'd make?
