Description

In this lesson, students will read a text "Memories of food" about habits in the past to indetify T\F statements.

Main Aims

  • To read a text ( an interview with Emma Bunton talks about her food habits in the past) to identify T\F statements.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To practice some informal vocabulary from the text, in addition to aknowledge the usage of used when talking about habits in the past.

Procedure

Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set a context and get the students involved

The teacher will put some pictures related to Turkish cuisine and a picture of two child one of them is happy and the other is sad(the sad one dislikes his meal, the happy one likes his). The teacher will ask the students about the two children's picture and then will encourage them to talk about their food habits in the past in pairs.

Exposure (5-10 minutes) • To skim the text quickly to find out the answers to the two questions.

The teacher will show them a picture for Spice girls. The techer will ask the students" who do you think likes to eat much?" The teacher will show the students a picture for Emma Bunton. The teacher will ask the students to skim the text quickly to answer the two questions in ex. 1 During that, the teacher will write the transcription form for some new vocabulary /splərj/ - /ˈSHepərd/ on the whiteboard. The teacher will answer any questions about the meaning of the new words.

Checking (5-7 minutes) • To identify T/F statements

The teacher will ask the students to identify T/F statements in ex.2. The teacher will ask the students to work in pairs to check their answers. the teacher will ask the students to correct the false statements.

Reflective (10-15 minutes) • To rewrite the statements to be about them

The teacher will ask the students to talk about themselves in pairs using the same sentences in ex.2. The teacher says: "When I was 22 I used to cross the black sea swimming, but now I cross it by ship". "When I was 25 I used to play for Real madrid, but now i play alone" in pairs the teacher will ask the students to talk about their habits in the past

Feedback (5-8 minutes) • To check their understanding

The teacher will review the pronuciation of some new vocabulary with the students
