Procedure (21-45 minutes)
Brainstorming: Teacher starts with the PPT. T asks Students to brainstorm words or phrases about exams. T gets words or phrases related to the topic. Ss share their ideas with the teacher and the class. By asking them to brainstorm about the words, T activates the background knowledge.
T shows the photo she created with AI. The photo is about the Turkish student worrying about the exam. T asks their opinions about it and to compare them with the real life. Ss describe the profile. Then, T shows a fun photo describing the real Turkish student who worries about the exams. Ss comment on the photo. In this way, teacher sets the context and arouses interest to the unit by making it relevant to students' own lives
Before working on the vocabulary exercise on the book, T opens Wordwall to present the words in game format. Since the book does not provide any definition, the game includes short explanations of the words. For students who know the meanings of the words, this exercise will help them revise them and remind them how to express the meaning in English. For those who do not know the meanings, the game will provide the essentials.
T asks Ss to open the related page in their books and read questions quickly in the vocabulary part A. Then,Ss match the questions with the pictures.For part B, students work in pairs. By making students work in pairs, Ss get the ability work with a partner. Then, T checks the answers with the whole class.
T asks students to focus on reading part. T shows students how to skim the text by focusing on titles, key words or the bold phrases. Then, T asks Ss to read the text silently and find out if they have anything in common. In this way, T helps Ss draw personal connections with texts and think critically. Ss read the text and express their opinions to the class.
In this stage, Students will write their worries about the exams.T opens Padlet and shares QR Code to the activity. Then, T asks Ss to use their mobile phones to comment on classmates' worries. In this way, technology is integrated into the lesson and it will be fun for students.They will produce sentences in the target language and gain confidence with free practice.
